Dallas–Fort Worth
DFW Metroplex's definitive family handbook — 11 categories, 100+ curated picks across nearly 400 city parks, plus live upcoming events.
Klyde Warren Park 🏙️
Dallas · Uptown/Arts District
Built over a freeway, this beloved 5.2-acre urban park is DFW's best free family hangout. The renovated 18,000 sq ft children's area features a 35-foot climbing tower, water jet play, musical instruments, and a kid-sized amphitheater for free weekend shows. Food trucks line the edges daily, and the lawn fills with families every weekend.
Trinity Park – Fort Worth 🌊
Fort Worth · Cultural District
Fort Worth's beloved riverside park runs along the Trinity River with multiple playgrounds, duck ponds, the legendary Forest Park Miniature Train ($5/person), and miles of Trinity Trails for bikes and strollers. The Dream Playground here is one of DFW's most epic: 57,000 sq ft with zip lines, climbing webs, and 10 swings.
Celebration Park – Allen (Glow Playground) 🌟
Allen · 701 Angel Pkwy
The ONLY glow-in-the-dark playground in DFW — and it's extraordinary. A 27-foot glowing sphere with six climbing levels, hammocks, light panels, a spin zone with LEDs, zip line, and sensory nature play for toddlers. After dark the lights activate and the whole place feels surreal. A must-visit bucket list playground.
Frisco Commons Park (Hope Park) 🏰
Frisco · 8000 McKinney Rd
An all-accessible playground designed to resemble a mini-town paying homage to Frisco's local businesses. Adjacent splash park, stocked fishing pond, bike/hiking trails, picnic grills. The unique play structures and flat rubber surfaces welcome kids of all abilities.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve 🌲
Plano · 6701 W Parker Rd
More nature preserve than playground, Arbor Hills is where DFW families go to breathe. Wildflower meadows, wooded trails, open observation tower, and a standout entrance playground make this a go-to when you need city-escape energy without leaving the Metroplex. Dogs welcome on leash.
